Ripples Of Life and Time

Walk like a Tiger

You came out of the morning shrubs
And burst upon my mind
Like a force of power and majesty
From a long forgotten time

And there we waited us thronging crowds
To catch a glimpse of you
Oh! dappled king of light and shade
We pay respects to you

We followed you in silence
We followed you in awe
Along the rocky pathways
And the leafy forest floor

In every stride a master
Of your life and of your fate
A king who rules where lesser folks
Will stoop in fear and shake

Perhaps we see this power
Perhaps we see a king
But every step you take reminds us
Of great and glorious things

Oh Tiger! halt your stately stride
Let our eyes rest on you
And in that grace that touches us
Maybe we’ll walk like tigers too!

  2. Hi Vini, what I felt when I read this beautiful poem is exactly what I see Ms Shahuna has also shared here – the majestic force of the tiger – I could feel the energy you were describing. Well done!
And I also loved the last sentence. That was unexpected – and leaves the reader feeling empowered 🙂
    So so good!

Why Ripples of Life?

There is something magical about being on the water.
You are floating, subject to the vagaries of the current.
Somehow there is a sense of being alone with yourself.
And as you look at the ripples, the sun scatters its rays…
And the water infused with light, the droplets shining like diamonds.
In the shade are the shadows— beautiful in their own way.
To me this is very like life itself
With bright highlights — with highs and lows —
Truly the Ripples of Life.
