Ripples Of Life and Time

Amazing Grace

She strode along without a thought
A bag upon her head
Her hips swayed with a rhythmic grace
As she walked the road ahead

No catwalk with the spotlights
No designer clothes for her
A tattered sari draped her frame
As she set out for her work

No diet food and supplements
But a hearty heavy meal
She needs the energy of every bite
To face her every week

No spa to cosset and pamper
No make up on her face
Just the sweat stained brow that greets each day
And handles hardship with such grace

She wont talk about world hunger
Or dress up to the nines
She’ll pack her ragged handy bag
And get on with her life

And yet when I look at her
I see the sparkle of her eyes
And a chin lifted so strong and proud
So glad to be alive

With a tune on her lips and the sway of her hips
She makes a catwalk of every place
As she saunters along with a bag on her head
And faces her life with grace

Why Ripples of Life?

There is something magical about being on the water.
You are floating, subject to the vagaries of the current.
Somehow there is a sense of being alone with yourself.
And as you look at the ripples, the sun scatters its rays…
And the water infused with light, the droplets shining like diamonds.
In the shade are the shadows— beautiful in their own way.
To me this is very like life itself
With bright highlights — with highs and lows —
Truly the Ripples of Life.
